I moved to Colorado when I was five. After high school this only child stayed close to home to study Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at the University of Colorado. There I spent my time playing club volleyball, conducting bilingual research, and working as a cook in the dining hall. On New Years Eve 2011 I moved across the country to join my husband and attend graduate school in Boston. It was at the MGH Institute of Health Professions where I first discovered that SLPs can assess & treat reading! With the guidance of wonderful supervisors (and after a short stint as a voice disorders specialist), I wound up at a middle school in the North Shore of Boston after graduation. My weekdays were spent doing Orton Gillingham reading tutorials, co-teaching language-based ELA classes, and reading young adult fiction. Weekends were spent at Crane Beach, training for races (including the Boston Marathon), and spending time eating my way through Boston.
